Resume,

Burundi educational system has certain lacunae to fill if we want our students to succeed in their learning process of the English language. This can be noticed at all levels of education in Burundi, whether it be at primary or at secondary education, or even at university.

For our concern, it is unconceivable that after years of English learning, the pupils are still poorly performing in the English language. As we are trained for teaching and as we have witnessed such a situation, we wanted to know the causes of the situation, and, once these causes dentified, try to contribute to their resolution.

Analyzing all that, the reasons are numerous such as a bad use of the time allocaed to English, unavailable teaching materials, overcrowded classroms that make the situation difficult to maintain, to name but a few. Many reasons for this case and perhaps many more that we are going to elucidate in the follewing pages, urged me to think of my contribution n order to awaken thse who make decisions to see how to increase the knowledge of English in general and especially in 3 rd Form Arts classes. We could not ignore that the pupils who are poor in English today will be teachers and other important people in this country tomorrow.
