Résumé

This work provides the reader with the slang used by clothing sellers at the Jabe market. In fact, in everyday life, every human being needs to communicate. Language, as a very important tool of communication is neccessary in ordrer to satisfy one's needs.

In my work, I show how clothing sellers at the Jabe market have their own slang not understood by the outsiders in thei everyday job of selling clothes. To conduct my research, I used an interview as my instrument because many of theseclothing sellers are illiterate. To sample my resondents, I used the simple random sampling technique. After analyzing the data collected, I came with the following findings :

- Clotthing sellers at the Jabe Market use slang in their comunication in order to facilitate their business
- There is no relationship between the literal meaning and the social meaning in the clothing sellers' slang at the Jabe Market
- The creation of a new slang by a given particular group of people is very important in their everyday life.

My study ends with a recommendation to further researchers in linguistics, especially in the area of slangs to deal with other topics in this field, working on other social groups in the Burundian community using this type of language.
