Résumé

This study aims at examining the message conveyed through various Rundi work songs and shows how this message contributes to shaping the behaviour of the members of the society.
Therefore, this study evolves on the premise that literature reflects the culture of people and the culture is the basis of their society. Henceforth, the work assumes that work assumes that Rundi work songs contain moral lessons that can help to build unity and brotherbood among citizens of the society.

The moral conduct that those songs instil into Burundians functions as tools which teach, warn or correct social evils. Work songs contribute more to increase the harvest of cultural values. Moreover, Rundi work songs as a genre of Burundi oral literature transmit the ancestral cultural value related to work vocation ac handed down from generation to generation.
In order to achieve the goal of survey , we adopted the Sociological Approach in our literary criticism.
