This research is an exploratory study of the significance of teaching English Phonetics and Pronunciation in Burundi secondary schools, especially in Second Form Arts. In fact, it is nowadays realized that Burundian learners have à low level of oral expression. Therefore, oral expression becomes a crucial preoccupation since any language is first of all a spoken phenomenon. In Burundi English language teaching, the lexicon at the hand of Second Form Arts learners may be considerable, but whencomesthe moment ot express themselves in Englshorally some of them speak English wrongly. This research states the theoretical framework which gives information related to the basic requirements of sudying a language, here E.F.L. As a researcher, I analyze if E.P.P. are taught in Burundi secondary schools and if these should enable learners to become good speakers and listeners of English. In order to achieve this, some secondary schools are selected in Karusi Province and three sets of questionnaires and classroom observations are used. Furthermore, even though the study is related to learning the English language, it focuses on E.P.P as a key for learners to become effective communicators in English. Although I have noticed some problems in teaching-learning E.P.P. I have shown a number of advantages of doing it.
