The aim of this work was to find out whether the students in medical secondary schools learn the specific english related to their medical studies or whether they learn another kind of english. The main focus was to analyze if the program designed for medical secondary schools help the nurses to cope with yhe linguistic needs in their field, whether the teachingmaterials are available and efficient and whether the different english skills are properly taught and learned.

Data about the teaching and learning of english in medical schools were collected, analyzed, and presented in order to find answers to the research questions formulated at the beginning of the work, and then appropriate recommendations were drawn. After a deep analysis of teachers' and students' answers to questions stated in the questionnaires, it was discovered that the teaching and learning of english is not given great importance in Burundimedical secondary schools. The researcher recommended that an appropriate program be set up in order to fit the needs of its learners.
