Résumé,<br/><br/>This work deals with the assessment of the effects of the use of English on the Burundian Army's communication in multinational operations. It thus attempts to investigate Burundian militaries capabilities and shortcomings related to the use of English as a medium of communication between multinational, multiracial, and multicultural troops in different coalitions and alliances.<br/><br/>This work is divided into 5 chapters. The first chapter provides the reader with fundamental information about the topic under study, justifies its importance, and defines objectives of the work. The second chapter makes the review of some literature related to the topic under investigation. It looks into different works undertook by other researchers and scholars with similar or parallel topics in order to help the reader get into the context of the present study. The third chapter informs about different methods and techniques that helped the researcher in the carrying out of the research for this work. The fourth and most considerable chapter presents the research data and deals with the analysis and interpretation of the findings. It is the body of the entire work because it generates results for the conclusion. The fifth and last chapeter deals with a briefly recapitulative analysis of the whole work and draws a general conclusion, emits recommendations and some suggestions that can help to improve the communication abilities and competence of Burundian militaries in multinational interactions.<br/><br/>Finally, the research has revealed that many Burundian militaries are not comfortable with the use of English in multinational operations and thus call for interpreters in some important situations. The majority of Burundian militaries met for the research regard the knowledge of English to be of great importance and helpful in multinational operations not only for officers but also for non-commissioned officers and field soldiers. They wish English was implemented in the Burundian Army for all categories. |
