RESUME,<br/><br/>The present study examines EFL learners use of adverb-verb collocation in Essay writing.A small corpus consisting of abstracts and conclusion was analyzed in order to identify and examine adverb-verb combinations correctly or erroncously used.AN essay writing was given to the participant in the study.<br/>Results indicate that the use of adverserb-verb collocations is problematic for Third year students from the department of English language and literature at the university of Burundi.This finding supports previous studies,which mainly focused on verb-noun collocations,and which reached conclusion that EFL students are not sensitive to collocation in their written productions (cf,Nesselhaut 2005);which is extended hare to adverb-verb collocations.<br/>Furthermore,the study reveals that third year students form the Departement of English Language and literature are not familiar with collocations.Some recommendations in ordre to improve the use of adverb-verb collocations among EFL users are proposed |
