Abstract :<br/>This work examines Armah's depiction of the woman in the Beautyful ones are not yet Born. The work further attempts to establish that the patterns of characterization in Armah's works, not only reveal his message as pan-African writer, but also reveal his concerns about modern African women in general. This work aims at finding out the motivates that push women to act the way they do, and their effectiveness as far as corruption is concerned. It also attempts to answer the question : "Can women be influent in fighting corruption activities and that they are accomplices of this corruption in many ways.<br/>This work is based on the hypothetical contention that Armah's female characters are portrayed as accomplices of corruption and nepotism in the society. women therefore do not occupy a sphere of purity, but rather they are active participants in the decandence that prevails.<br/>The work is written against the backdrop of post independance and psychoanalytic approaches. As far as post independence approach is concerned, this study attempts to show that corruption of women in post independence Africa is due to some opinion that everything from West is good and perfect, and that everything African is savage and barbarian. Then, the characters such as Oyo, Estella and others fight to get rid of africa and its things. As far as psychoanalytic approach is concerned, the research attempts to analyze women's psyches as well as their supergo in terms of laws, morals, respect, etc.<br/>Thus, charcters such as Oyo, Oyo's mother, Estella Koomson and others are portrayed as having no shame, no guilt, no morals, no fear and no repect.<br/>This work concludes that the picturization of Armah's female characters makes his message more realistic and revealing to his complementary society as we see characters walking on the African streets daily, and interacting in the general network that have placed Africa where it is to date |
