RESUME,

This wrk examines the struggles of woman to overcome domestic violence in a sexit and atriarcchal society. It argues that cultural, religious, practices and norms that advantage and privilege men are central factors that intensify patriarchy.Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie portrays in her novel purple hibiscus a strong call against gender violence and the treatment of women as commodities.
Based on feminist theory, this work concludes that both men and women are called to contribute in order to end violence against women and create a society free from injustice between men and women.
