RESUME,

This work examines ethnicity in chimamanda Ngozi Adichies' Holf of yellow sun.It analyzes the post-colonial nigerian tribal conflicts that have shed so much blood .It also aims at capturing how,in the novel;the Igbo ethnic group has been marginalizes by other ethnic groups within the Nigerian society. In this context the study is based on the hypothetical contention that ethnical is one of the major concepts that are responsible for many herrors that Nigerians have suffered for decades. It also posits that ,according to the novel,Igbo people are marginalized and taken for being responsible for all the plagues that Nigeria has gone through after independence. In fact, the Hausa people ,in the Novel accuse Igbo people for triggering the war that has caused various casualties by forcefully seeking seccession from the Federal Nigeria.New historism is the theoretical framework that the current work is based on.Chimamanda did not write Half of a yellow sun without a motivation. She wrote it to inform readers of the socio-politico-economic situation Nigeria and its population were experiencing at that time. The findings prove that Adichie, through some characters exhorts us to reject such kind of beliefs whose aims bring nothing good for our community and put much focus on values and bonds that unite communities.
