This work examines the destructive features of christianity and how they affect the lives of Africans during its expansion. It argues that Christianity the coming of Christianity destroyed than it built up in African culture and society

This study is based on Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart. The Work also exposes the social and religious life of Igbo people in Nigeria. It portrays how African people managed to maintain order among them and live peacefully with their gods and ancestors. When the British missionaries introduced Christianity, it came as a forerunner to the exploitation of African continent, i.e as a tool of imperialism. It was used to psychologically and ideologically destroy African people's minds, which led to the breaking of African social and cultural bonds.

The psychoanalytic and sociological approaches which are prevailing in this work emphasize African behavior in a new environment and the social contraints that affect their psyche.

This work analyses the behavior adopted by Africans towards the coming of a new faith, Christianity. It is shown that kinds of behavior adopted were dictated by the power of Europeans and the ignorance of Africans who were lured by sweet and convincing words of missionaries
