RESUME,

This work enntitled:"Analysis of students" strategies in English learning :case of selected public secondary schools in Bujumbura city" was aimed at analyzing how learning strategies are applied by students in their English learning in public secondary schools in general,and first form arts section,in particular ,In fact,several pupils are not strategy use and they somestimes fail to complete a language task.The research investigated the following issues:the learning strategies that are most fequently used by students;the effects of learning strategies on students' learning and the relationship between students' strategy use and students'attitude towards English language learning.For data collection,the researcher used a questionnaire designed for pupils.After data collection,the data were analyzed systematically question by question,using tables.The results showed compensation strategies,cognitive strategies and memory strategies were mostly used while social strategies and affective strategies were less used.Finally,it has also been proved that learnng.Besides,strategy use was closely related with students' attitude towards language learning.
