The present study on " Assessment of Factors Affecting the English Writing Performance in Burundi Fourth Form Learners" tries to establish the main factors hampering English writing performance in Burundi Fourth Form Learners. The study was carried out in the schools located in Bujumbura Municipality where 200 subjects were used as the research population. The data used in this study were collectes using a written questionnaire and classroom observation. After the analysis and interpretetion of data from the two toolsn, the researcher pointed out findings. It was then found that the writing skill is not well taught in the investigated schools due to many factors. For example, the teachers do not work with the learners to explain them how to write and what to include in the writing exercises. Furthermore, the teachers, alleging they have a little time for the writing skill and that the writing skill is not as important as the grammar of the language do not provide feedback to the learners' writing. In order to improve the learners' English writing performance, a number of recommendations are  formulates and directed to the Ministry of Education, Course designers, Teachers and Students of Fourth Forms
