In fact, much emphasis was put on the structure and some techniques used by speakers while holding a conversation with respect to wedding occasions. After presenting and analyzing our data, the finding that we cane out with proved that, in Kirundi style, every speech event must have an introduction, where the audience is welcomed, the development in which the main purpose of the ceremony is stated and the conclusion in which there are exchanges of wishes and goodbyes. Inside wedding speeches, the modesty maxim, the generosity maxim and the agreement maxim were focused on to check the authenticity of the communication.
