Since there is no one who is perfect in language use, the researcher attempts to fin out these causes through the formulated research questions. The research questions attempted to know to what kind of related errors the pupils make in their English spelling. It shows how the spelling of French hinders the mastery of English spelling. It was also asked how the French -based problems encountered by pupils in English writing can be solved. After the analysis, it was discovered that Frenchinterfered negatively to a large extent in the pupils' choise of words during the writing. Many of them did not know how to draw lines of demarcation between French and English words. This has a negative impact ontheir writing skill. Based on the findings of work, conducted in Bujumbura province in 1st Modern Arts, the researcher puts some recommendations to the govemment, teachers, pupils, and the stakeholders in education. He also makes suggestions for further researchers. ER -
