RESUME,

This study deals with problems encountered in the teaching and learning of English speaking skills in management sections in secondary schools:A study conducted in some selected schools of Bujumbura mayorship.It aims at investigating some problems encountered in the teaching and learning of English speaking skills in management sections and find ways to overcome such problems.To achieve this ,I used simple random sampling technique to select my informants.The instruments used to collect data were:teachers' and pupils' questionnaires,classroom observation and pupils' interview.Tgrough this study,it was revealed first of all that English teachers are not well qualified to teach English for specific purposes and their teaching experience does not help pupils to improve their speaking abilities.Secondary,pupils in management sections are not motivated to speak the English language.Thirdly and lastly,the English teaching program does not put much emphasis on the teaching of speaking skill.
