RESUME,

The present study entitled"Teaching English according to Adult learners'Needs:Case of East African community language learning Center in Makamba commune"mainly attempted to find out the adequacy of the coursebook and the methodology that are used by trainers in relation to the needs of the learners.The study aimed at investigating on both teachers and adult learners of english in EACLL center .On the one hand,it aimed at assessing what motivated the teachers to teach English to adult peaple in EACLL Center. It also sought to find out whether what they teach and how they teach meet the learners' needs.On the other hand,this study sought to find out reasons which push adults to learn English and that they need english for.It also aimed at finding out whether there had been a discussion between learners and teachers about that they need English for and that should be taught.Data collection procedures for this work were basically concerned with two kinds of instruments,that is,a questionnaire and a classroom observation.The questionnaire was handed over to both teachers and adult learners of english from EACLL center.Through this research,it was found out that adult learners of English in EACLL center have different motivation of learning English and their needs differ from one learner to another.As far as the teachers are concerned,it was found out that some have their first objective of making money and all of them teach without being aware of what their learners need English for.For this reason,some learners find themselves unsatisfied with the coursebook for the latter is designed regardless to the needs of the learners.In short,a coursebook designed without need -analysis is seldom able to satisfy all learners as individuals.
