this research aims at finding out the way the English reading skill is taught in Burundi rural primary schools.The work is focused on the techniques used to teach English reading skill to check of,if those techniques used by teachers are appropriate or not.The researcher analyses whether english reading teaching at Burundi primary school is related to the usual methodological approach.In order to put together data from the sampled schools,the researcher used two sets of questionnaires:and learners questionnaire.The data are presented in tables in order to enable the researcher to analyze the major problems that teachers and learners of primary schools encounter while teaching and learning English reading skill is that,primary schools teachers are not competent to teach the english reading skill is that,primary schools teachers are not competent to teach the English Reading skill.They use inappropriate techniques and methodology,the lack of reading materials that could contribute in one way or another to learners in their misunderstanding .Also the conditions in which learners work,some classes have a high number of learners and it is very hard to a teacher to control them.moreover,recommendations are formulated towards Goverment,teachers and further researchers
