It sets out to examine Kate Chopin's selected short stories to see how she presents women in the quest for freedom. By writing about female characters, Chopin was already paving the way for her need for freedom. In this regard, this study is based on the hypothesis that Kate Chopin's heroines in the selected short stories are all motivated by a strong quest for fredom. The heroines fell imprisoned by their condition as women and rebel in different ways against patriarchy. In the three short stories "The story of an Hour", "Desiree's Baby" and "A Pair of Silk Stockings", characters are enslaved by patriarchy. It is in this light that the feminism approach is used. The work concludes that oppression has only helped the woman to better define herself ER -
