Wilde does so in his play in using different characters that visibly represent different institutions of victorian sociey. Conducted using the New Historicism approach, this research demonstrates that Oscar Wilde, in the Importance of Being Earnest, uses Irony and Satire as dominant technique in exposing the weaknesses of the Victorian institutions ER -
